In the cramped conditions of a bomb shelter in Kyiv, a little girl named Amelia sings with all her heart the famous tune Let It Go from the movie Frozen — beloved by children (and many adults) around the world.

The video, which has been seen by millions, shows the young girl giving a rousing rendition of the song in Ukrainian. And the meaning of the song is so poignant at this time.

The moment was caught by Marta Smekhova, who encouraged the little girl, whom she describes as “friendly and talkative” to stand up and share her talent for all those taking shelter to hear.

The moment the little girl starts to perform an eerie silence falls in the bomb shelter:

“From the first word in the [bomb shelter] came complete silence … everyone put their business aside and listen[ed] to a song by this girl who was just beaming light … even men couldn’t hold back the tears,” explained Smekhova in her post, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“Seeing, in one of the Kyiv bomb shelters, how children draw bright pictures in half-darkness, I, of course, couldn’t silently pass by … stopped, praised, offered to do a little exhibition to somehow decorate this not so happy place,” shared Smekhova.

With Amelia’s mother’s permission to film and share the musical interlude, the video has received praise far and wide. While Smekhova points out the fact that it is the children who are the victims of the war, the video also shows how a young child can embody light and hope amidst fear and darkness.
