Three weeks into October, and the Mid-Atlantic states, and even southern New England, are still bathed in a sea of green leaves, with maybe a hint of color to remind one it is fall. To catch an eyeful of fiery red and orange foliage, you would have had to have traveled to New England or out West, where the change of seasons put on its usual awe-inspiring show.
