It’s one thing to pray grace before meals at home, but what about when you’re at a restaurant? Let’s say your appetizer arrives … Do you say grace then, or wait for the entree? Okay, but what if it’s just breadsticks or pickled daikon? And what if the waiter arrives in the middle of your prayer with a pressing question, or carrying a large tray of food that’s about to topple over? How about if you’re only going out for coffee and dessert? And should you pray before you down that strawberry smoothie?

Well, it can all get a bit confusing, so comedian and former athlete John Crist has decided to give us some official rules for re-meal prayer when we’re dining out. After listening to his guidance, it should be a little easier. Just be sure to note the French fry rule.
