The King Cake is a traditional Catholic pastry that has different versions all over the world. It is the customary to hide a small figurine of baby Jesus into the cake, and whoever finds it is responsible for next year's (or the next party's) King Cake. The colors green, purple, and gold identify this cake as from New Orleans. Epiphany cakes from other parts of the world are not as colorful.
