Wahlberg was a baptized Catholic who celebrated his Holy Communion as a child, but he explains that he just went through the motions of his faith. He never appreciated how much he was loved by God. His busy parents rarely accompanied him to Mass, and left to his own devices he would go off and get into trouble instead of going to Church.
