A "righteous man"
For the Jews, the expression "righteous man" is more or less equivalent to calling someone a saint. St. Matthew the Evangelist uses it to describe St. Joseph (Mt 1:19). He’s a man who seeks to know God's will and is willing to fulfill it, even if it costs him pain and sacrifice. For example, we see that he acts according to the Law of Moses during the Presentation of the Child in the Temple (Lk 2:22,27,39). He is equally obedient in response to the four visionary dreams he has (see Mt 1:20; 2:13,19,22).
