Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption (San Francisco, California)
Constructed in 1970, the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption is an example of modern Catholic architecture. The roof was designed with hyperbolic paraboloids, which allow the base of the roof to exist as a square that rises up to create a cross. St. Mary's roof rises to about 190 feet, but the cross atop it stands 55 feet tall.
