The Cathedral of Saint Lazarus of Autun: This face of this clock, built in 1751, was painted directly on the wall of the cathedral. It replaced a clock that dated back to 1484. Today, it indicates the position of the sun and the hours of the day, but the mechanism for the phases of the moon no longer works. The clock mechanism is visible behind the wall, accessed by a narrow spiral staircase.
