Life often forces us to make important decisions: the purchase of a new home, a move to another region or country, the creation of a new business or a change of career. It’s hard to make decisions when our whole future is at stake. This is why we need to entrust ourselves to the Lord, who has been guiding us all along our life. Here’s a prayer to say when you face a big decision.
Lord, how can we know
what to do without Your wisdom?
Let Your counsel reveal Your will in all things
with a joyful certainty to us.
With the decision we must make
we trustingly appeal to Your Spirit for wisdom,
so we can ask the right questions and find
the right answers.
Let us be realistic
to better heed Your voice from Heaven.
Yea, oh Lord, we ask You
to help us keep our feet on the ground.
We desire to see all things
as You see them, according to Your plan.
Free us from our delusions
and our own obstinacy.
Teach us to see what those around us expect of us,
rid us of received ideas, make us hear everyone speak,
for Your will is manifested through the hearts
of the most humble among us.
Lord, we know that You speak through us
and through what happens in our family:
teach us how to listen and meditate
on these events in keeping with Mary’s example.
Let the sense of judgment we ask of You
help our family to progress and be productive.
Amen.
