Daily stress, arguments, depression and routine … All of the above have a negative impact on the harmonious existence of a couple. A good sense of humor can soothe the problems encountered in married life, especially in conditions of quarantine.

Boredom is a nemesis of all couples, especially if the two partners are stuck together in close quarters for the foreseeable future. Without effective communication to help them adjust to the inevitable changes in their lifestyle and some imagination, a relationship can suffer. Of course, there are some exceptions. Some couples actually enjoy the calm and adapt quite well to a quieter life without problems. But generally, partners who are used to being on the move and having set routines can find a slower quite pace together very challenging.

A few rules for humor

A good sense of humor is indispensable for living together. It is appreciated by family members and society at large. It provokes smiles and allows people to reduce tensions by playing down their problems. But not everyone possesses the right sense of humor. There are even some people who are so serious that they forget the dormant child inside them, who needs to come out to play, relax and enjoy making a few jokes.

So, there is a sense of humor and there is the sense of humor! There is a biting, sarcastic humor used to tease. At times it can be cheap and vulgar. There is also the sparkling, fleeting kind that twists and turns sidestepping serious issues. There is an egotistical kind of humor, a person uses when he or she wishes to seduce — it is intended to project one’s personal brilliance. But the sense of humor people value most is the one that puts the weight of our daily problems into perspective. This healthy kind of humor instills joy and calm and is particularly appreciated by a partner who needs to feel reassured. So, for as long as the sense of humor remains within the limits of reasonable, being funny and amusing is beneficial.
