Sharing a joyful meal with friends will make your family closer. Why not have God join in it? He should not be left out on this joyful occasion: “You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God who has worked wonders for you” (Jl 2:26). A meal could not be complete unless it begins with a Benediction and ends with Thanksgiving. If you are looking for a lovely prayer to recite as you leave the table, consider the one written by Saint John Chrysostom:
To You the glory, Lord; to You the glory, Holy One; glory to you, King.
You have provided us with food for our joy.
Fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we will be found worthy in Your presence,
and that we will not be ashamed when You come to give to each according to his works.
Amen.
