It's great to see a video notching up over 5 million likes on TikTok alone for all the right reasons!
There’s no doubt that young adults seem to be struggling more with their mental health than ever before. This can be down to a myriad of reasons, including: pressure generated by unrealistic expectations shared on social media — accompanied with 24/7 doom scrolling that leads to an uncertainty and fear for the future — loneliness, or as Harvard Education shared, they feel a “lack of purpose.”
Whatever the reason, increasing mental health concerns amongst teens and young adults is certainly worrying. However, one of the benefits of this generation is their ability to talk about their issues, with an impressive emotional awareness. And while social media can be detrimental, it also provides people a platform where they can share their struggles, and maybe motivate others.
This was just the case with a recent reel posted by Breanna Kate on TikTok that has garnered 5.6 million likes already.
In the video below, Breanna Kate shared a text conversation with her mom about feeling anxious and wanting to chat. Although her parents live 600 miles away, they hurried to their daughter’s side to chat in person… and of course, give her a much-needed hug.
