These words from Scripture can help when you're feeling frustrated or alone, especially when those around you aren't listening.

There are times in life when we feel that no one is listening to us. This impression of being ignored can be caused by a whole range of people: our children, friends, colleagues, and even politicians. It can leave us feeling not only frustrated, but isolated, too.

As usual in these sorts of times, there are a number of quotes from Scripture that collectively provide comfort, strength, and guidance for dealing with feelings of being unheard and disheartened, encouraging a deeper reliance on God’s presence and support.

“In my distress I called out: LORD! I cried out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry to him reached his ears.” Psalm 18:6

This verse reassures us that God hears our cries even when others do not. It emphasizes that no matter how overlooked we feel by people, our prayers and distress are heard by God.

“He gives power to the faint, abundant strength to the weak. Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, they that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31

When feeling unheard and frustrated, this quote reminds us that God provides strength and renewal. Trusting in God can give us the endurance to face challenges and frustrations, especially if you feel abandoned by those around you.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

These words from Matthew encourage persistence in seeking God’s help. It reassures us that even if people do not respond to our needs, God invites us to keep asking, seeking, and to carry on knocking.

“Trust in him at all times, O people! Pour out your hearts before him; God is our refuge!” Psalm 62:8

These wise words emphasize the importance of trusting God and sharing our deepest frustrations with Him. It reassures us that He can offer us shelter and is always ready to listen.

“Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

When feeling frustrated and unheard, this verse encourages us to turn our concerns over to God through prayer. It promises that the resulting peace that we’ll feel will help to alleviate frustration.

“Know this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” James 1:19

This short piece of advice is great for dealing with frustration. It reminds us to be patient and listen actively, promoting better communication even when we feel unheard.

“Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.” Romans 12:12

This short verse is surely something to repeat every day. It encourages us to remain hopeful and patient through difficult times. It emphasizes the power of prayer, reminding us that God is always with us, even when people are not.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.’ I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

When we feel unheard and weak, this quote reassures us that God’s grace is sufficient. It reminds us that our weaknesses can reveal God’s power and presence in our lives.
