The Archdiocese of Denver is inviting the faithful to pray for the success of the St. John Vianney Theological Seminary Lay Division, which is taking its mission of faith formation and education to the international level.

With a veritable host of options from Bible and catechetical instruction to enrichment courses, the school’s online offerings are a way to delve deeper into the faith with the dedicated guidance of St. John Vianney’s faculty.

For decades, the Lay Division has offered courses on a variety of subjects related to Catholicism. The school’s Bible study programs include 4 years of courses, while their Catechism classes are completed in 2 years. Those who are already versed in Scriptures and Catholic doctrine may benefit more from the Lay Division’s enrichment courses, which explore themes such as Dante’s Divine Comedy, the lives of saints, Church history, Catholic art, and philosophy.

Fact of life

Lay Division director Daniel Campbell explained to Denver Catholic that the school is trying to utilize advancements in technology to offer its classes worldwide. “It’s a fact of life that we live in a digital world,” Campbell said, noting that Catholics are called to bring the Gospel to the people wherever they are, including the internet.

“You guys know how important it is to know the Lord in order to better love him, and in knowing him and loving him to better serve him, to better share him with all the people in your lives,” Campbell said in a social media post. “We want to take these beautiful gifts that we have here in the Archdiocese of Denver that have so faithfully served the local community for decades now and, living in a digital world and with online classes, serve that need for formation in Christ with these very unique programs.”

The courses offered by the SJV Lay Division can be fully perused at the school’s official website. Prices vary by course, so be sure to check them all to find the right fit for you.
