Lauren Daigle has taken the Christian music scene by storm in the last few years, with her monumentally successful “You Say,” which stood atop Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs charts for more than 150 weeks. The 31-year-old Christian music star was only ousted when she released “In Jesus Name (The God of Possible),” which is the current #1 track. Now, she’s preparing to release a new album and her first single has us confident that more laurels are on the way.

Titled “Thank God I Do,” the tune is a piano-driven ballad that expresses the artist’s appreciation to those whose love and support she relies on, as well as thanking God for placing them in her life. Daigle’s signature smoky voice helps to create a somber atmosphere as she describes a lonely atmosphere of uncertainty, encapsulating the years of pandemic within the first verse.

As the song develops her voice becomes stronger as she sings of the comfort she found in those who support her, describing the feeling as “I’m home.”

The sweet lyrics perfectly suit the sentimental melody to create a fantastic tune that builds expertly to feature a wonderful string section as she enters into a belting bridge.

The website Church Leaders has Daigle’s comments on the song. The singer explained that she believes that everyone who comes into your life was placed there for a reason:

“God puts very specific people in your life for a very specific reason. And I needed the people in my life at that time around me to keep my head above the water.”

In an interview with The Christian Beat, she expressed her excitement over her upcoming album, which has yet to be named:

“This is my most precious project,” Daigle shares, “It’s got fun moments, solemn moments, extrovert moments and introvert moments. And I’m just thrilled about taking my songwriting further on this record than anything I’ve done previously.”

Laren Daigle’s music is available to stream on just about any platform one could want. Be sure to follow her on YouTube and her official website to get all the updates on her much anticipated 2023 album.
