Teens deserve wise, enriching spiritual reading that fits their stage in life -- like these books.

Sometimes reading a spiritual book during Lent can be the refresh you need to power through the second half of this season.

So this could be the perfect time to add these great reads to your teen’s nightstand for some Lenten inspiration.

Teens have their own particular spiritual needs. It’s a time when many young people are seeking solid answers about faith and their own purpose. They deserve wise, enriching spiritual reading that fits their stage in life.

These five books about Lent are written for teens from a Catholic perspective. They might be just what a teen you love needs to read right now!

1Lent: One Day at a Time for Catholic Teens

Husband and wife team Katie Prejean McGrady and Tommy McGrady teamed up to create this wonderful resource.

The book comes with a companion video series, together designed to walk young people through Lent with purpose and intention, going beyond the typical sacrifices of giving something up and truly growing in their friendship with Christ.

The videos are perfect for classroom reflection and discussion!

2Life Teen Lent Companion

This Lent challenge book requires only a few minutes each day to complete but will change the direction of Lent for any person that makes the time for it. Featuring challenges from a team of passionate disciples, this Lent Companion is great for individual prayer or for small groups during Lent.

3Ashes: Visible & Invisible

A little different from the other books on this list, this Lenten anthology features short fiction stories by teens exploring different aspects of faith.

It’s really special to hear directly from teens themselves, and the stories touch on so many of the issues teens care about and may be grappling with in their own lives.

4Great Lent for Teens

This devotional book guides teens through the Mass readings of this liturgical season. It can educate them and transform their understanding of Lent through a series of weekly reflections and practical tasks.

5What Am I Doing for Lent This Year? for Teens

This little workbook is written especially for teens to introduce them to the Forty Days of Lent. The author worked with a teen focus group to develop brief but captivating descriptions of the mysteries, symbols, scripture, prayers, liturgies, and practices of Roman Catholics during Lent.

The book includes spaces for writing plans for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, along with reflection questions and spaces for responding. The language used, examples, and reflection questions have all been developed to inspire young people.

These features create an interactive tool for going on a personal retreat throughout the season so that teens are drawn into meaningful, fruitful penance and feel prepared to savor the joys of new life during Easter.
