Pope Francis will concelebrate a Mass with cardinals in Rome on March 13, 2023, at 8 a.m. in the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican. The Mass will mark the 10th anniversary of Francis’ election to the See of Peter.
The invitation to the members of the College of Cardinals was soberly announced without further details.
In previous years, this anniversary day – a holiday for employees of the small state – has been occasion for some notable initiatives by the Pope.
On March 13, 2015, the Argentine pontiff took the opportunity of the second anniversary of his pontificate to announce the launch of an extraordinary holy year, the “Jubilee of Mercy,” during a penitential liturgy at mid-Lent in St. Peter’s Basilica.
On the third anniversary of his pontificate, during the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square on March 13, 2016, he had a pocket Gospel of St. Luke, titled “Gospel of Mercy,” distributed to the faithful.
On March 13, 2019, the Pope was surrounded by the Roman Curia for his anniversary, which coincided with the spiritual exercises of Lent, in Ariccia (Italy).
