For many people, prayer can seem overwhelming, and some may even wonder if prayer is “right” for them.

St. Faustina, a Polish nun who had mystical visions of Christ in the early 20th century, wrote in her Diary about four types of people who need prayer the most.

1A soul that is pure and beautiful must pray, or else it will lose its beauty.

2A soul that is striving after this purity must pray, or else it will never attain it.

3A soul that is newly converted must pray, or else it will fall again.

4A sinful soul, plunged in sins, must pray so that it might rise again.

In other words, every type of person is in need of prayer!

St. Faustina explains, “A soul arms itself by prayer for all kinds of combat. In whatever state the soul may be, it ought to pray …There is no soul that is not bound to pray, for every single grace comes to the soul through prayer” (Diary, 146).

While prayer may be difficult, the key is to persevere and to continue your prayer life, relying on God for all the grace you need.
