The first single from the upcoming six-song album, "He Can Use Me," was recorded when Houston was just 17 years old.

Eleven years after the passing of Whitney Houston, one of the strongest female voices to ever grace the stage, her estate is releasing a posthumous album. Titled I Go to the Rock: The Gospel Music of Whitney Houston, the album will feature six never before heard songs, the first single of which, “He Can Use Me,” is already making waves ahead of the March 24 full release.

“He Can Use Me” is a powerful tune that becomes all the more impressive once it’s revealed that Houston was only 17 years old at the time it was recorded. The soulful minor melody bears all the signature traits that Houston became known for over her 35-year career. Displaying such emotional conviction, vocal power, range, and dexterity at such a young age highlights the God-given talents that propelled Houston to the top of her craft and the industry.

According to a press release, the posthumous album will be accompanied by a documentary TV special and DVD. Hosted by acclaimed Grammy-winning gospel singer and Houston’s close friend CeCe Winans, the documentary will follow Whitney’s gospel journey from her first-ever performance in front of an audience to her many breathtaking appearances performing gospel songs. The feature, which bears the same name as the album, will also delve into Houston’s recording of the soundtrack to the 1996 film The Preacher’s Wife, which became the best-selling gospel album of all time.

The album will be released on all major music streaming platforms on March 24, but physical copies can be purchased through The Gaither Music Group, which is releasing both the album and the documentary in a set. The album is already available to preorder at Gaither’s website. Click here for more information
