Steve Angrisano and Sarah Hart give the 20th-century prayer an excellent treatment that may resonate with younger audiences.

Two highly respected Catholic musicians have joined forces to release a brand-new “Chaplet of Divine Mercy.” Music missionary Steve Angrisano was joined by Grammy nominee Sarah Hart for this modern take on the long-form prayer that would fit as easily into a parish prayer service as it would for personal prayer.

Sarah and Steve are now promoting the hymn. released in 2022, as an excellent meditation for the faithful to prepare for a spiritual and reflective Lent. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a prayer gifted by Christ to Sr. Faustina at the Congregation of our Lady of Mercy in 1935.

It was popularized after Pope St. John Paul II promulgated the prayer in the late 20th century, leading to its widespread publication, and has become a deep devotion among the laity. The devotion was strong in JPII too, as he proclaimed the universal feast of Divine Mercy during the canonization Mass for St. Faustina in the year 2000.

Hart and Angrisano showcase the new melody they have set to the words originally recited by Sr. Faustina, highlighting their excellent vocal talents along the way. The recording begins with Angrisano reciting the initial prayers before the song builds up. The song is even easy to follow with the rosary beads, which are used to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Of the song, Sarah commented in a press release:

“It was such a true joy and honor to be able to write this music with my friend, Steve. I have seen first-hand the countless prayers lifted and answered in the devotion to this Chaplet that Steve has taken on. My hope is that through this music, hearts will be moved to pray and trust in the Divine Mercy of Christ and be comforted in the love of God in this beautiful prayer.”

Steve was also excited to share his thoughts, noting that his wife helped him share the new song with as many people as possible:

“My wife and I have done our best to put this beautiful family- and parish-friendly prayer in the hands of as many people as possible—a prayer that speaks of the inexhaustible mercy of God’s love. For young and old alike to share this prayer together, in the car, at home, as a lullaby for your children; this prayer is for anyone desiring to draw closer to God and bring others with them.”

“Chaplet of Divine Mercy” is available to stream on YouTube – through the OCP Music channel – as well as in Steve Angrisano’s collections on Spotify, Apple Music, and just about anywhere that music is streamed. Visit his official website to learn more.
