We read all too often about the negative aspects of society, and everything that is going wrong with the world. So when we see something that makes us want to celebrate humanity, we just have to share it.

In a “social experiment” shared by lobuonoinside on Instagram, we can see a man feigning fear in taking an escalator. In fact, he’s so scared of getting on it that he remains blocked at the top.

In the video you can see a few people dismiss him and pass on by, but then he’s rescued by a family. As a couple and their son are about to get on the escalator they spot the man in distress.

Instead of carrying on with their journey downwards, the father turns around and asks the man if he’s scared. After learning he was, the man heads back to the top of the escalator to offer his arm and some comforting words to support the stranded man.

The dad also tries to calm the scared man’s nerves as they make their way down to the bottom of the ramp. He doesn’t mock him or humiliate him. He shows him compassion and understanding.

And the best thing about the short experiment is that the father is inadvertently teaching his son how to act with kindness while going about your busy daily lives.

Although the family were unaware it was just an experiment, it reminds us that we should always keep an eye out for those more vulnerable members of society when we’re out and about, and we should always have hope and faith in humanity.
