Father bride dementia

Looking at a daughter caring and loving her seriously ill father is not only moving, but reminds us of the power of the parent-child bond.

One of the joys of getting married is the precious moment between the bride and her father. And a video recently posted on social media by Hangin with Hayley shows just how important that bond is.

In the short video, the bride is getting ready to meet her groom to exchange vows. However, before the all-important ceremony begins, the video explains that the bride’s father has dementia and barely recognizes his daughter most of the time.

Thankfully, the daughter is not only very understanding of his condition, but also knows how to connect with her beloved dad.

The video explains that the pair shared an activity when the bride was a young girl, and when her father partakes in the same activity now, it often brings him momentarily back to reality.

Without giving the whole video away — although it’s worth watching for the end result — the father and daughter get to have a special and tender moment that will have you shed a tear or two.

So take a minute to see the loving relationship between a daughter and her dad, and the unbounded joy the bride must feel in being able to share her special day with her father, who may be disconnected mentally, but whose heart is obviously tied to his daughter’s forever.
