A 98-year-old great great-grandma has become an unlikely internet sensation courtesy of TikTok and her positive advice.

Nanny Faye from Texas has been posting on the popular social media app thanks to the help of her great-grandson. Posting under the handle “nannyfayeandme,” the loving, devout, commonsensical great-grandma has notched up an impressive number of followers. And one of her top posts has been seen by millions for all the right reasons.

One of her many followers posted a question seeking some Nanny Faye counsel: “I’m scared of dying and can’t help it. Can you ask her if she is and how to help with that? She’s sweet!”

Her response is just perfect:

“Noooo! Why should I be scared? Honey, what’s there to be scared of … This [life] is just a little interim time. It’s a blip.” She went on to share: “It really is not going to amount to a hill of beans hardly … Less than 100 years up to eternity doesn’t even cut it.’

“Your faith is to be put in what that Bible said.” And after explaining the beauty of eternal life she sums it up most eloquently: “There is going to be perfection …”

But it’s worth listening to Nanny Faye say it in her own words below:

I asked nanny a question that I’ve always wanted to ask but never have….. is she afraid of death?.. #nanny

The Texas native, who was born in 1925, received many encouraging comments in reply to her message, with lots of people sharing how important our elderly generation is for inspiring us and nurturing our faith. It’s encouraging when social media is a vehicle for spreading such an important message.
