On December 17, the self-proclaimed “conservative Christian” rapper Tyson James released a slightly abridged version of his latest single “Beautiful Life” on his YouTube page, which has over 131K subscribers. The four-minute video features James’ wife Paris and their five kids, along with social media stars former professional basketball player Mandrae Collins, his wife Karissa Collins and their nine children.
Together, the James family of seven and the Collins family of 11 (actually 12, as Karissa is clearly expecting baby #10) sing and rap together in a picturesque country setting. Not only do all the children lip sync along with James’ lyrics that celebrate the blessings of children and family life, but Mandrae shows off his rapping skills, taking the lead in a few sections.
Karissa, a conservative social media star who has over 793K followers on Instagram, handles the song’s catchy chorus on her own — lyrics that seems to sum up the heart of the song:
It’s a beautiful life
I would never trade it for the finer things
I’m going to let the Spirit guide me
I know He’s living inside me
I’m going to multiply
It’s a beautiful life
Karissa sings the lovely melody while patting her pregnant belly and enjoying indoor and outdoor scenes of family life. The captivating montage includes shots of friends and family taking walks and swimming together. Meanwhile, kitchen scenes show off smiling faces around the table.
The video concludes with shots of Mandrae rapping on the couch, surrounded by his kids while wearing a baseball cap that proclaims “Jesus is Lord.” These scenes certainly project an image of fatherhood that’s obviously a much-needed light in these present times — as the video has already received over 20K views and hundreds of positive comments.
One fan wrote: “THANK YOU for this tribute to the kids, and to the family, and to LIFE!! My Lord, this is so beautiful!!”
The full-length version of “Beautiful Life” is available for download on YouTube and on streaming services everywhere.
