The "O Radiant Dawn" antiphon has references to a few prophecies in the Old Testament.

A few days before Christmas the Church presents to us the “O Radiant Dawn” antiphon.

This antiphon is translated below into English.

O Radiant Dawn,
splendor of eternal light, sun of justice:
come and shine on those who dwell in darkness and in the
shadow of death.

This antiphon recalls a few different prophecies of the Old Testament.

The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
Upon those who lived in a land of gloom
    a light has shone.

Isaiah 9:1

But for you who fear my name, the sun of justice
    will arise with healing in its wings;
And you will go out leaping like calves from the stall
and tread down the wicked;
They will become dust under the soles of your feet,
    on the day when I take action, says the Lord of hosts.

Malachi 3:20-21

Jesus is the “Radiant Dawn,” who shines upon the world and brings light to those in darkness.
