‘The Great Big Christmas Show’: Catholic influencers’ holiday special

J-P Mauro - published on 12/14/22

Some of the biggest names of Catholic social media channels shared their faith, music, recipes, and joy of the Christmas season.

On December 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, popular Catholic social media influencer Father David Michael Moses hosted a Christmas special that brought together some of the most beloved Catholic influencers. Called The Great Big Christmas Show, this holiday special is a light-hearted affair that includes musical performances, holiday recipes, readings of Christmas stories and a lot more.

Produced by Max Studios and presented by the University of St. Thomas, Houston, this half-hour feature is a fun watch for the entire family. Fr. Moses, a young priest who was ordained in 2019, is a natural host for the show and supports his friendly monologues with a musical performance of his own.

He put on quite a show as a one-man-band playing “Jingle Bells” on guitar, while singing, playing harmonica and supplying percussion with his feet. He puts on a similarly thrilling performance of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” a bit further into the show. Father Moses’ talent and personable demeanor stand as a testament to his prowess as a Catholic influencer, for which he has garnered 65k Instagram followers and over 24k YouTube followers.

Father Moses’ musical performances have a quaint, impromptu quality about them and these are contrasted by the seasoned and refined musical stylings of Fr. Rob Galea, who is also on hand for The Great Big Christmas Show. Joined by an unnamed pianist who also provides harmony vocals, Galea puts on a to-die-for rendition of “Silent Night” with an original section that we’d never heard before.

The show is rounded out by readings of poetry and children’s Christmas stories, reflections on Advent and the season of Christmas, and tutorials on cooking and baking Christmas treats. There is a whole lot of entertainment wrapped up in this half-hour Christmas extravaganza and thankfully, the recording is now on YouTube and is free to watch.

So gather your loved ones and pour out the hot cocoa, because this is one Christmas special you don’t want to miss.
