When the US Bishops (USCCB) met at their Fall assembly on November 16, 2022, they unanimously approved an English translation of texts to be used for the optional memorial of Our Lady of Loreto on December 10.
According to the USCCB’s website, “The proper liturgical texts were released by the Holy See in Latin. An English translation must be prepared by the International Commission on English in the Liturgy, approved by the USCCB, and sent to the Holy See for the requisite confirmation. Once confirmation is received, the translation will be publicly released and implemented in the United States.”
Catholic News Service states that the US Bishops voted on the translation and the vote “was unanimous, 204-0. Passage required approval by two-thirds of the U.S. Latin-rite bishops. The texts now advance to the Vatican’s Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Sacraments for a ‘recognitio‘ before they can be used in the United States.”
In the interim, the USCCB has provided temporary texts to be used on this optional memorial.
