Hallow, the #1 Catholic app on the App Store, is challenging its users to pray every day of Advent in 2022 with the cast of The Chosen as their guides. Called Advent Feat. The Chosen: #Pray25, the challenge presents an exercise in faith practice that will prepare our hearts to welcome Jesus once again.
The partnership between Hallow and The Chosen brings together two of the most popular Catholic endeavors in the fields of technology and entertainment.The Chosen is a monumentally successful series on the life of Christ that has been viewed more than 400 million times, meanwhile Hallow boasts about 4 million users who have used the app to pray over 100 million times. Now, they’re engaging with their vast audiences as never before.
Several of the fan favorites from The Chosen, including Johnathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, are taking part in the #Pray25 challenge, which encourages Catholics to pray on each of the days leading up to Christmas. Roumie has previously partnered with Hallow on several of the app’s features and he even starred in an excellent commercial. This time, he’s one of six voices guiding the faithful through Hallow’s Advent meditations.
Other members of The Chosen to read for Hallow’s#Pray25 challenge include Vanessa Benevente (Mary, Mother of Jesus), David Amito (John the Baptist), Paras Patel (Matthew), Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), George Harrison Xanthis (John the Evangelist), and even Dallas Jenkins, who created, directed, and co-wrote the series.
Hallow’s website notes that the workload was divided between Roumie and the other cast members. The daily meditations and prayers of the #Pray25 challenge are guided by Roumie, while his fellow cast members read through the appropriate passages from the scriptures. They note that they’ll cover a lot of ground: from the garden of Eden to the manger.
