Start the season off right with this prayer at the beginning of Advent.

One of the best ways to start the season of Advent is to begin it in prayer, quietly attentive to the coming of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Advent is a season that focuses not only on the first coming of Christ in Bethlehem, but also at the second coming at the end of time.

In this same spirit, the Church offers to us the following prayer at the beginning of Advent, looking forward to the day when we will present to the Lord the fruits of our life.

Grant your faithful,
we pray, almighty God,
the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ
with righteous deeds at his coming, so that,
gathered at his right hand,
they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
