Modern Catholic parents of young children often come up short in the search for great children’s TV shows. Parents want to make faith relatable and engaging for their children in their everyday lives, and at the same time, they want children’s media that aligns with their values.

That’s why a new children’s show, Marcam, fills a real unmet need in Catholic programming. Catholic writer and mom Emily Wilson created the show with her husband Daniel.

“There is a huge variety of media dedicated to evangelizing Catholic adults, but not very much at all for Catholic children,” Wilson said. “There’s a huge need among Catholic parents for high-quality, engaging Catholic kids media, which is currently severely lacking.”

So what exactly is Marcam? It’s a live-action show on YouTube designed especially for Catholic children ages 2 to 6.

Through singing, dancing, and exploring (think “Blippi” levels of enthusiasm), the energetic, curious and friendly host Marcam helps children better understand and become more familiar with the richness and depth of the Catholic faith by going on fun learning adventures.

For example, in one episode, Marcam visits a sacristy and receives a tour of it from the priest.

Marcam invites kids along to all kinds of places—churches, music studios, petting zoos, convents—while meeting fascinating people in real life who are on fire for Christ.

Wilson shared some of what inspired her to create the sweet and engaging series.

“We want to get young children excited about Catholicism from the very beginning of their lives,” she said.

Watching Marcam, young children can learn about sacred items, the sacraments, religious orders, and much more, in a fun and exciting way that brings faith to life for them.

“Ultimately, our goal is for Marcam to build up the Church with our youngest hearts, one episode at a time,” she said.

She was quick to reassure parents that they can count on Marcam for wholesome, trustworthy content.

Marcam will always be fully in line with the Catholic Church,” she said. “This is so important to us as parents of two young boys who can no longer trust the networks, shows, and movies that were once trustworthy in the past (when we were young)! It is time for a revolution in media for Catholic children, and we are excited to be a part of it!”
