The Dicastery for Evangelization, which is coordinating preparations for the Jubilee Year of 2025, is hosting a competition for the Jubilee hymn.

Participants are asked to set music to an Italian text, which speaks of evangelization in the world.

The hymn is intended to have a liturgical purpose and should be capable of being sung by a Church congregation and by a schola cantorum. It should be submitted with a score for voice and organ.

Entries in the competition are required to be sent in by 25 March 2023. All the details are here.

Jubilee Year

The Church celebrates a Jubilee every 25 years.

Each Jubilee Year has a theme. Pope Francis has chosen “Pilgrims of Hope” as the theme of Jubilee 2025.

A Jubilee is “ordinary” if it falls after the customary 25-year period, and “extraordinary” when it is proclaimed by for some outstanding event. The 2025 Jubilee will take place in line with the 25-year gap period.
