A grandmother with Alzheimer’s disease was the star of an emotional surprise on her granddaughter’s wedding day.
Days before the ceremony, the bride, named Luiza, was very sad to learn that her beloved grandmother wouldn’t be able to attend her wedding. For health reasons, the family preferred to keep the fragile old matriarch at home—at least, that’s what the relatives told the bride. She was sad, but understood.
However, it was all a big set-up. With the help of the groom, Nico, relatives and friends prepared the grandmother and she went to the wedding, remaining hidden from her granddaughter’s view during the first part of the ceremony.
When it was time to exchange the rings, the groom said he’d forgotten them, and quickly left to get them. Lo and behold, he returned pushing the bride’s grandmother in her wheelchair. The beloved old woman was carrying the rings!
The bride cried her eyes out with happiness when she saw her grandmother, whom she loves so much, participating in this very special day! The guests couldn’t hold back their tears, either.
The touching video was shared by the bride and the photographers. Watch the video to see how beautiful the surprise was! Ah, but grab your tissues first! We’ve put a translation of the captions in this article below the video, although the images speak for themselves.
The captions go as follows:
Days before getting married, Luiza’s grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s, asked to be invited when Luiza got married.
Due to her health, the beloved grandmother wasn’t expected to go. When it was time to present the rings, Nico pretended to have forgotten them somewhere.
And the person who brought up the rings was the grandmother, without Luiza having known about it at all.
“I love you, I love you a lot.”
