Vatican sources note that all Christians take part in the life of the Church, each according to his status.

While the Vatican press office has not given an official response to the claim from Cardinal Angelo Becciu that his cardinal’s prerogatives are being reinstated even as his financial trial continues, an article in the Italian edition of Vatican News makes an observation.

Sources in the Holy See recall that the rights of the Cardinalate do not refer to participation in the life of the Church; Christians are called to take part in [the life of the Church], according to their status: in the case of cardinals this may include an invitation — sometimes personal — to attend some meetings reserved for them.

This was the observation offered by journalist Salvatore Cernuzio.

Thus Vatican News speaks of an invitation from the pope but does not mention a reinstatement.
