Before you begin any work, invoke God's heavenly assistance.

St. Benedict held up the dignity of work, believing that work played an essential role in our daily lives and path to Heaven.

He passed on this idea to his monks, specifically in his Rule.

For example, he gives this simple tip for success at work:

Whenever you begin any good work you should first of all make a most pressing appeal to Christ our Lord to bring it to perfection.

St. Benedict

It’s a simple tip, but one that has profound consequences. When we give everything to God, we are no longer alone in our labors and we see how God is with us in our work.

The next time you go to work, ask God to help you “bring it to perfection.”
