One of the tricky things about getting married is all the organizing. Hannah and Jeremy, a British couple getting married in August, decided to do a little of their planning in a local pub. In the midst of their discussions, they spotted a familiar face and decided to share with him their proposed wedding song.
It was, in fact, the lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, who happened to be in the The Stag Inn, Hinton Charterhouse pub, having a quiet drink. When the couple told him they wanted their first dance to be to one of his hits, “A Sky Full of Stars,” he offered to play it to the couple, according to landlord, Chris Parkin.
The musician took to the piano and started playing to Hannah and Jeremy, as well as to the few other patrons present in the pub.
The couple was understandably in shock. “It’s such a small village and we never in a million years could imagine this would happen to us. We wished we invited him to our wedding but we were just in shock. Now our first dance has unraveled to such a huge moment,” shared Hannah with the BBC.
Yet, the real story here is that a world famous singer acknowledged just how special a wedding, and his song, is to the couple. At a time when marriage seems to be losing its significance among younger people, it is lovely that Martin took some time out to bring a little sparkle to their plans, and to their song. No doubt, when the couple finally takes to the dance floor, their first song will feel a little more magical.
