Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the famous Russian novelist and Catholic thinker, once wrote: “Beauty will save the world.” And a group of Hungarian teens from Sandor Weores School in Budapest, Hungary, call that declaration to mind in their 2017 waltz to Ed Sheeran’s popular song “Perfect.”

The clip, which has almost 800K views, has been circulating again on social media just in time for this year’s prom season. The comments following the 8-minute clip speak of viewers being “mesmerized” and “being brought to tears” — and for good reason.

At a time when popular entertainment outlets promote anything and everything except traditional love and marriage, these teens who appear very much mainstream — judging from their clothing choices and hairstyles — have taken part in a highly-orchestrated, time-consuming performance that speaks of something deeper and more beautiful.

The dance opens with teenage girls dressed in floor-length, white wedding-style gowns (a symbol of modesty, chastity, and innocence). The song playing in the background as the girls enter the gymnasium is “Willow” by Jasmine Thompson. Its lyrics depict a classic love story of a husband and wife who promise to never leave one another. The girls sit on the floor as teen boys enter into the gymnasium dressed in tuxedos.

The song then switches to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” with more lyrics describing a traditional love and marriage — “sharing dreams, sharing children, and a home.” Once partnered up — one boy to each girl — they dance in a manner that is both reminiscent of the past, yet timeless.
