Ask God to nourish your heart with the Word of God.

God has given us the Bible to feed our souls, but we do not always take advantage of the opportunity to receive spiritual food.

Sometimes we may even read the Bible and have no interior response to God’s word, only reading it as an historical book.

Whatever our situation may be, below is a collect prayer from the Second Sunday of Lent asking God to nourish us with his Word, giving us the spiritual vitality we need.

O God,
who have commanded us to listen to your beloved Son,
be pleased, we pray, to nourish us inwardly by your word,
that, with spiritual sight made pure,
we may rejoice to behold your glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
