The action hero has a few tricks up his sleeve for sharing his daughter's interests.

You may or not not be a huge fan of Hollywood star Channing Tatum, who is known for his action movies such as White House Down, in which he singlehandedly saves the life of the president, and the more dubious Magic Mike. But one thing is certain, Tatum is a single-dad on a mission to raise his daughter to the best of his ability.

Tatum became daddy to a little girl called Everly in 2013. When his marriage to Jenna Dewan sadly ended in 2018, the actor was anxious about his role as a dad, and if he’d be up for the task, as he shared with Parents:

“When I became a single father, I had a lot of fear about connecting to Everly in every way that a little girl might want. I didn’t wear nail polish or know how to braid hair … I jumped with both feet into this magical world. And I was rewarded with a kind of love that I don’t think I would have ever been able to have otherwise.”

Yet, perhaps without realizing, Everly has also joined her father in his action-packed world. According to USA Today, Tatum has an unusual way of sharing his daughter’s crafting interests:

“We do a thing called “Night Ninja” where after bedtime every once in a while I’ll sneak back into her room, ‘break her out’ of the house, go down to the barn and do art for exactly 37 minutes. And then we run back up and sneak her back into her room and go to sleep.”

It’s unclear why the crafting exercise is precisely 37 minutes, but it’s certain that Everly must be ecstatic to share that special time with her dad when she should be tucked up in bed.

And Tatum, too, takes inspiration from these special moments with his daughter. The 41-year-old turned his hand to writing and wrote The One and Only Sparkella, a series of children’s books inspired by his relationship with Everly.

It’s always sad when a married couple breaks up, but it’s wonderful to see how a devoted parent will bend over backwards to make sure their child continues to thrive.
