3 Catholic apps to help you have your most fruitful Lent ever

LENTEN APPS

Hallow | Pray as you Go | Magnificat

Theresa Civantos Barber - published on 03/02/22

These online apps and programs will help you spend more time in prayer this Lent.

These online programs and apps are designed to help you grow in deep prayer and profound peace.

Join in one of them to have a really fruitful, faith-filled Lent. Hopefully, with God’s grace, it will be your best Lent ever!

1Hallow

You’ve probably heard of Hallow, and I can tell you it lives up to the hype.

If you haven’t heard of it before, Hallow is a Catholic prayer app that offers over 1,000 audio-guided sessions on contemplative prayer, meditation, Catholic Bible readings, music, and more.

For Lent in 2022, Hallow invites users to join the #Pray40 Challenge where—for the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter—thousands will join together in prayer and meditation on Christ’s last words.

The #Pray40 Community Challenge on Hallow is one of the most popular and life-changing challenges of the year, with exclusive prayer resources to enhance your Lenten journey.

Personally, I’ve found Hallow to be a very convenient way to include times of prayer in my day as a busy mom. And Hallow’s nightly sleep stories have resolved my long-standing insomnia when nothing else worked.

2Pray As You Go

The Pray As You Go app offers a Lent retreat for 2022 called “Hope and the Nearness of God,” as well as several other Lenten prayer resources

“This is a space for you to journey each week of Lent with the theme of ‘hope’ as we walk closer and closer both with and towards Christ this season.”

3Magnificat Lenten Companion App

Magnificat is one of my favorite resources for inspiring Catholic reflections. The Lenten Companion app is designed to help users “refocus our hearts and revive our love of the Lord and one another.”

The app includes daily Lenten reflections by gifted Catholic writers, faith-filled essays, prayers, poetry, devotions, meditations and much more.

Here are two other Lenten programs that are not apps, but emails that you can sign up for to receive each day.

Word On Fire Lenten Gospel Reflections

Sign up to receive a free Gospel reflection from Bishop Robert Barron every day of Lent! The reflections are a convenient way to contemplate Scripture as we move through the 40 days of Lent towards Easter.

Pray More

Pray More offers a Lenten retreat with audio presentations, video talks, and reflective study guides. So if you’re looking for a more retreat style program to deepen your spiritual practice this Lent, check it out. Here’s the invitation to participate from Pray More:

“Learn how to have a holy, prayerful and transforming Lent. Slow down and reflect on your walk with Jesus and how you can strengthen your relationship with Him and get to know Him and His word better. Become more intentional with your prayer life. Return to the Lord with your whole heart and learn how you can let the Holy Spirit guide you in your everyday life. Reflect on God’s mercy and immeasurable love for us as He sent His son to die for our sins. Deepen your faith and pray more this Lenten season from the comfort of your own home!”
