It’s not every person who is called to save the lives of others, but Davyon Johnson proved what a superhero he is on two occasions on the same day in December.

The 6th grader started his life-saving day when a schoolmate got into trouble while attempting to open a bottle of water with his mouth. The bottle cap got stuck in the youngster’s throat, so he made his way into Johnson’s classroom struggling for breath.

Thankfully, Johnson had watched a YouTube video on how to perform the Heimlich maneuver. So he sprung into action and put his skills to use. The bottle cap popped out of the student’s mouth and everybody breathed a huge sigh of relief.

The 11-year-old pointed out to Enid News & Eagle how valuable the YouTube tutorial had proved, saying, “Just in case you’re in the situation I was in, you can know what to do.”

On his way back from school, Johnson spotted an elderly woman with a walker trying to leave her burning home.

“I thought ‘oh, she’s not moving fast enough.’ So I ran across the street and helped her to her truck,” the superhero shared with News On 6.

The actions of this smart youngster have not come as a surprise to those who know him, as, according to a report in Essence, Johnson wants to become an EMT.

He’s definitely on the right track, and has received a number of honors from the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and Muskogee Public Schools, and fittingly Mayor Marlon J. Coleman also declared December 9 as Davyon Johnson Day in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Johnson is certainly a heroic young man, and it’s inspiring to see the younger generations growing up to be compassionate and responsible members of society, looking out for those in need.
