Christmas is such a beautiful time, with a rich array of imagery that we can meditate on. In particular, it is a Eucharistic season, one where the image of Jesus in the manger recalls the gift of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Here is a short post-communion prayer from Dom Prosper Gueranger in his Liturgical Year that reflects beautifully on the mystery of Christmas and the Eucharist.

You have come down even unto me, O my Sovereign Lord, and are reposing in my heart as in a Crib, which you have chosen for yourself.

O Infant God, my heart is now become like a new Bethlehem!
O Bread of Angels, I most devoutly adore you, you the great God, thus humbling yourself to such an abyss of lowliness.
To the hymn of the Angels, Glory be to God in the highest, I must add Glory be to you, my God.

I adore you in company with the Angels, the Shepherds, and the Magi, with Simon and Anna, and all the Church of heaven and earth, which contemplates in glad amazement the sublime miracle of this abasement of your divine Majesty.
