For when Christmas doesn't feel quite so merry.

As we mark the great event of Christ’s arrival in the world, there are many who may be finding it difficult to feel celebratory. One of the joys of Christmas is being with loved ones, so the pain of missing someone you love who’s not here anymore is often magnified at this time of year, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and fear about the future.

If you are in need of hope and consolation, or know someone who is, this selection of quotes from the Bible may settle your soul and bring some comfort.

Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy … I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.”

John 16:20,22
