This year why not gift your family and friends with presents they really need?

The White House recently revealed the theme for this year’s Christmas decorations — “Gifts from the Heart.” It’s a theme that encourages a shift from the now-commercialized Christmas that sees so many families go into debt in a bid to spoil loved ones.

While it’s lovely to offer beautiful presents, perhaps more thoughtful gifts come in unexpected shapes and sizes — or perhaps no package at all. In fact, maybe offering a gift that’s really needed — even one that doesn’t cost a cent — is what people would really appreciate.

Often, these kinds of gifts come from a place of understanding what that person is going through in their lives, and that comes straight from the heart. If you click on the slideshow below, you’ll find some ideas of heartfelt gifts that could inspire your gift-giving this Christmas.
