It’s the start of college application season in the U.S., and parents all over the country are trying to keep everyone on an even keel as their kids make big decisions and juggle lots of moving pieces. It’s an exciting but intense time.

Where to apply? Who to ask for recommendation letters? Should they retake the SAT? There’s so much for teens to think about right now. 

The college decision seems momentous to teens, especially if it’s the biggest decision they’ve ever had to make in their lives up to this point. There’s enough pressure on their shoulders that parents don’t need to add to it. Instead, our job is to encourage them, support them, and help keep things in perspective instead of adding to the overwhelm.
