This Sunday thousands are expected to gather in front of the US Capitol to pray for the nation’s conversion at the fifth annual National Rosary Rally.
The event is part of the “Rosary Coast to Coast” movement, in which hundreds of Rosary rallies across the country will be held simultaneously. The rally will also mark the end of the organization’s 54-day Novena for Our Nation.
“This 54 day Novena and the Rosary Rally are all part of the effort we need to end pre-born child killing and attacks on marriage and the family,” said Fr. Richard Heilman, President of the Holy League and a speaker at the rally.
“Importantly, this is not intended to be a political event. Our hope is to influence the direction of our country through prayer,” said Heilman.
The day’s events will begin at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill. At 2 p.m., participants are invited to join a Eucharistic procession from St. Peter’s to the rally site at Union Square to the west of the US Capitol in front of the Capitol reflecting pool.
The Rosary will be prayed throughout the procession for “respect for life at all stages of development; the sanctity of marriage and families; upholding constitutionally protected religious freedom; and the return of our nation to God and Holiness,” according to Rosary Coast to Coast.
