Prayer for the feast of the Transfiguration

TRANSFIGURATION

Philip Kosloski - published on 08/06/21

This Byzantine hymn asks God for his divine light to shine upon all of us.

In many ways the feast of the Transfiguration is a feast of light. It focuses on that radiant light emanating from Jesus and gives us a glimpse of the glory that is to come.

Here is a short Byzantine hymn that is also a prayer, asking God to shed his divine light upon all of us.

You were transfigured on the Mountain, O Christ God, showing Your Disciples as much of Your glory as they could hold. Let Your eternal light shine also upon us sinners, through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Giver of Light, glory to You.
