Looking for real-life examples of God’s presence in other people’s lives? Members of the University of Notre Dame community share their personal stories about discovering beauty in their daily lives.

While many evangelical Christians can happily offer their “testimony” about how they came to recognize God in their lives, the same cannot always be said for Catholics.

Recognizing the power of sharing these stories of faith, Notre Dame theology professor Leonard DeLorenzo set out to instruct young Catholic on the art of storytelling.

“Stories of Grace,” is a sampling of the fruits of his labor. This collection of podcasts, available on Apple Podcasts, was created by members of the University of Notre Dame community. Each narrator shares a story about a time when they recognized God’s presence illumining their daily lives.

In Episode 1, “Waiting for Grace,” by Madeline Lewis, the narrator asks, “Has anyone ever felt just like, a little bit lonely, and had the urge to just see a really big whale?” Looking for a sign that God loved her, Lewis takes a whale watching trip. When she doesn’t see a whale, she views the project as a failure, that is until she realized that maybe God had something different to share with her.

The 19-episode series is a project of the McGrath Institute for Church Life.

For a book dedicated to the mystery of grace and the practice of storytelling, see DeLorenzo’s Witness: Learning to Tell the Stories of Grace to Illumine Our Lives, available at here. DeLorenzo shares his insights from teaching thousands of teens and young adults how to relate their moments of grace in a compelling way.
