POPE FRANCIS

From their own hospital rooms just a few meters from the Holy Father, these little ones are sending their greetings and prayers.

“Dear Pope Francis, we have heard that you are not doing very well and that you are now in the same hospital as us. Even though we can’t see each other, we send you a big hug and wish you a quick recovery.”

These are the well wishes sent by young patients of the pediatric oncology unit at the Gemelli Hospital, the same hospital where Pope Francis has been staying since his colon surgery last Sunday.

These patients, just a few meters from the Pope’s room, have sent him drawings and notes. On the first page of the letter quoted above, we can see a drawing of the 266th Pope, all smiles.

The children of Bambino Gesù have also sent their best wishes to the Bishop of Rome. “Dear Pope, may you feel my my prayer. I felt yours when I was sick,” writes a little girl named Giulia. This little note is accompanied by a drawing representing her firmly holding the Pope’s hand, as he smiles from his hospital bed.

On a third sketch signed by the children of the Vatican hospital, we see the Pope walking in the direction of Bambino Gesù. The drawing is captioned with an invitation: “Dear Pope, come and find us. We are waiting for you at the hospital.”

“The little patients and their families as well as the whole community of Bambino Gesù, his hospital, pray that the Pope can heal quickly and continue to help the children,” said the hospital on Twitter
