During the month of May, the Church around the world is joining in a daily Rosary for the intention of the end of the pandemic, as well as a specific intention related to the various victims of the virus.
Each day of the month, a different shrine will lead the daily Rosary, according to local practice.
The beginning and the end of the Rosary Marathon (May 1 and May 31) are led by Pope Francis.

Day 25 intention: For all teachers, students, and educators
For today’s Rosary Relay, we turn to the land of Malta, an island of ancient Christian history, as even St. Paul mentioned the hospitality he received there (cf. Acts Chapter 28.)
This shrine of Our Lady was built at the site of a small chapel, known as Tal–Ġentili (Of the Gentile), dedicated to the Assumption, which existed before 1545.
A man named Pinu Gauci became the procurator of the church in 1598 and its name was changed from “Of the Gentile” to “Ta’ Pinu,” meaning “Of Philip.” He paid for its restoration, and also commissioned the painting of the Assumption of Our Lady for the main altar.
Eventually, it became a revered Marian Shrine, visited by droves of Gozitans, Maltese and people beyond.
In 1920, the shrine was expanded to accommodate the many pilgrims and another church was built.
