When Jesus appeared to St. Faustina during the 1930s in a private revelation, he placed a great emphasis on a particular three o’clock prayer in honor of his Divine Mercy.
St. Faustina wrote down his words in her Diary.
“At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.” (Diary of St. Faustina, 1320)
Jesus gave to St. Faustina the Divine Mercy Chaplet, but also a particular prayer that can be said when the clock strikes three — the traditional hour of the crucifixion.
It is a beautiful prayer and one that can be easily memorized to be prayed at that hour each day.
You expired, O Jesus,
but the source of life gushed forth for souls
and an ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
O Fount of Life,
unfathomable Divine Mercy,
envelop the whole world
and empty Yourself out upon us.
O Blood and Water,
which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus
as a fount of mercy for us,
I trust in You.Amen.
